International Driving Permits no longer required in Florida    22. February 2013
Visitors from overseas do not need an international driving permit in order to drive lawfully in Florida. A law that was introduced last year and stated that overseas visitors need an international driving licence as of 01 January 2013 has been revoked until further notice since, according to a statement of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, "this requirement may violate the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic (1949)". Therefore, visitors to Florida only need to be in possession of a valid national driving licence from their country of residence.

Please note: Even if a national driving license is legally sufficient to drive in the U.S., we recommend bringing an international driving permit if your national driving licence is in a language other than English.

New Partners & Locations in Europe for 2012
Over the last few years motorhome travel in Europe has increased and we search to add new partners and locations in Europe regularly. We're pleased to announce that for 2012 we have added a new partner in the UK, Amber Leisure Motorhomes with a depot in London. Our Irish rental partner Bunk Campers decided to include Scotland in their program and you can now book motorhome hires from Edinburgh. If you prefer to travel to Italy, you can now also explore the Italian Island Sicily by campervan. For those who would like to see more of Iceland we've added a new partner offering 4WD Truck Campers which will allow you to travel the rougher roads across the country! Check out our Europe pages for more information and prices: http://www.motorhomebookers.com/europe/motorhomes.htm

Travel Restrictions for Mexico
On 20 Feb 09 the USA State Department issued a travel alert warning of a drastic increase in violent crimes and vehicle theft in the northernmost states of Mexico. In recognition and response to this Travel Alert, the rental companies Cruise America and Road Bear prohibit all travel in their vehicles across the Mexican border. With Apollo and Star RV vehicles, travel to Mexico is also strictly prohibited.

Compulsory online registration if travelling to the USA (ESTA)
ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) is an application system for all travellers from 'Visa Waiver Program' (VWP) countries only. From 12 Jan 09 onwards any person entering the USA under the Visa Waiver Program is required to apply online for a Travel Authorization. The ESTA can be obtained via the following link: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete your submission. From 09 Sep 10, travellers will be charged USD 14 to apply for the authorization. Ten of the USD 14 will go towards promoting US tourism, while the other $4 will cover administration fees.
