In the event of an accident, breakdown or technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company, the McRent partner or the nearest 'Dethleffs' office immediately. If you have a problem outside of the McRent opening hours just call the service number which can be found in the vehicle documents. An emergency phone line provided by the vehicle manufacturer along with the Fiat breakdown cover and service guarantee are all included in the rental rates.
All McRent vehicles undergo strict quality control. However, problems can still occur from time to time. Please note: Small repairs or necessary expenses that are necessary to ensure the smooth running and upkeep of the vehicle that cost up to € 150 can be carried out without prior communication with the rental company and will be reimbursed to you at vehicle drop-off time. For repairs that will cost more than € 150 you are required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed (otherwise no reimbursements can be provided). Any repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt as well as the replaced parts (where applicable).
If you have an accident, there is a fire or theft or you hit a wild animal, etc the police and the rental company need to be contacted immediately and any third party demands should not to be agreed to. In an accident the police report must include the name and address of the people involved as well as any witnesses along with the vehicle registration details of any vehicles involved. Even in the case of minor damage the renter is required to provide McRent with a detailed written report and a sketch outlining the situation.
NOTE: If you do not inform the rental company and police immediately and if the company is not given the opportunity to find a solution to your problem there will be no grounds for compensation.
