The vehicle must be returned with a clean interior, otherwise a fee of NZ$ 220 will be charged. Waste water and toilet tanks must be emptied prior to drop-off, otherwise an additional fee of NZ$ 125 will apply.
This option can only be booked in advance and is not available at pick-up.There are no long-hire discounts off the All Inclusive supplement. It is charged for a maximum of 50 rental days per hire. For prices, please refer to the 'Rates' page in the Backpacker New Zealand section of our website.
The All Inclusive Option includes the following services in addition to the provisions included in the standard rates:
- Liability Reduction 2 insurance supplement
- Tyre and Windscreen Cover
- Road User Charge Recovery Fee
- First LP Gas fill
- Linen and Bedding (1 set per person)
- Extra Driver Fees
- Snow Chains (these need to be reserved in advance with the booking if required)
- Portable Heater (this needs to be reserved in advance with the booking if required)
- 1 camping chair per person
For all one-way bookings for travel between the North and South Islands or vice versa where the pick-up date falls between 01 April and 30 September, the one-way fee will be waived (saving you up to NZ$ 260).
For rentals of 21 days or more, a 5% discount is deducted off the rental rates
Please note: the All Inclusive supplement cannot be discounted.
Should a customer have more than one consecutive rental they can be combined to qualify for longer-term hire discounts off the vehicle rate. Consecutive motorhome hire in Australia and New Zealand for Backpacker can be combined to qualify if the vehicle collection date/s are within a 3-month period. For all rentals to qualify each booking needs to be made at the same time. If a customer makes another booking at a later time, the new booking can be combined to qualify if the vehicle collection date/s are within a 3-month period however, the original booking/s will only qualify for a discount if the booking/s are not already travelling or travelled.
For vehicles that pick up and drop off on the same day, the less expensive rental day will be free of charge. This also applies to the locally payable Liability Reduction Option or the All Inclusive option (which is booked through Motorhome Bookers) if applicable.
If multiple hires are within the same country and total days exceed 50 days, only the maximum charge applicable to the Liability Reduction Option or the All Inclusive option will apply. If combining a vehicle hire with another Backpacker vehicle that has a more expensive All Inclusive option, the more expensive All Inclusive supplement maximum cost is applied.
Vehicle security deposits can be transferred between most multiple rentals. This service is available as long as the vehicle security deposit amounts are the same
The long-term hire discount applies for the sum of all rental days together. However, any one-way fee and/or location fee is charged separately for each individual rental.
If multiple hires total more than 100 days these rates and terms do not apply. Requests for quotes/bookings of more than 100 days should be made with us first by email or phone.
Each rental day corresponds to one calendar day, regardless of what time you collect or return the vehicle.
The flex rate that is available at the time of booking determines the daily rental rate. This price that applies from day one of your rental duration then applies for the entire rental period, i.e. you pay the flex rate multiplied by the number of days booked. As soon as you have booked, that rate is fixed, i.e. the price you pay per day will not change, even if the flex rates change at a later date.
To find out which flex rate is currently valid for the vehicle you are interested in, just click for a price calculation for your desired rental period. The base flex rate is calculated by the rental company on the basis of supply and demand and is adjusted every Friday.
For bookings of 5 vehicles or more or for long-term hires of 100 days or more we will need to place special request with Backpacker as there are other prices and conditions that apply in such cases. This also applies for multiple hires that add up to 100 days or more.
Please note: If you decide to extend your rental duration before you actually collect your vehicle the same flex rate is used to calculate the additional rental days that applied on the day when you made your original booking as long as the original booking has not already since been changed. For all other changes to your booking this will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that applies at the time of the booking change, depending on which rate is higher.
The following situations are classified as booking alterations:
- Change of date for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of location (depot) for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of vehicle category
- Name change
The cancellation fees apply as stated in the Motorhome Bookers booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked no refunds will be provided.
