The toilet and waste water tanks have to be completely emptied by the time you drop off the vehicle, otherwise £ 100 will be charged per tank that has to be emptied by the rental company.
The following long-hire discounts apply off the daily rental rates and will be automatically factored into the total price during the online quote / booking process on our website:
3% for 15 - 25 day hires
5% for hires of 26 days or more
You can use the following link to do your online check-in in advance. Fill out your details required for your rental agreement at your leisure and send these to McRent online. The rental company can then prepare your rental agreement in advance of your arrival.
https://www.mcrent.de/speed/login.jsp
You will require the McRent confirmation number in order to complete the online form. You can find this number on your invoice/booking confirmation or travel documents.
There is a corresponding flex rate for each rental day. A certain flex rate is valid for one week from Friday to Thursday. Depending on which day of the week you start your hire, the corresponding flex rate is valid for all rental days until the next Thursday. From Friday on, the corresponding flex rate of this week is valid for the following week, and so on.
Pick-up and drop-off days are counted as one day in total, i.e. each rental night is used for the price calculation in the same way this is done by hotels. To find out which flex rate is currently valid for the vehicle you are interested in, just click for a price calculation for the desired rental duration. The flex rate is calculated by the rental company on the basis of supply and demand and is adjusted every Friday.
Note: If you wish to make any changes to your booking the booking will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate at the time of the booking change, depending on which rate is higher.
The following situations are classified as booking alterations:
- Vehicle collection date change
- Change of date for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of vehicle category

The cancellation fees apply as stated in Motorhome Bookers' booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked no refunds will be provided.

- Camping set: per vehicle; includes 1 fold-up table & up to 4 fold-up chairs

- Booster seat: per rental
- Bike rack*: per vehicle
- GPS: per rental
* Bike racks are free of charge but can only be guaranteed if requested at the time of booking. The bike racks are suitable for regular bikes, but not for E-Bikes.
The kitchen equipment is included in the rental price and consists of: crockery and cutlery for 4-6 people (depending on which vehicle you book), coffee pot, glasses, filters, cutting board, vegetable knife, bread knife, can opener, bottle opener, corkscrew, pots, small pan, bowls.
These items can also be rented and paid for when you pick up the vehicle. However, there is no guarantee that they will be available at that late stage.
All rental rates include third party vehicle insurance with cover up to a maximum of £ 5 million for damage to third party vehicles as well as separate vehicle insurance for damage caused by the renter to the rental vehicle. The excess that applies to any vehicle damage (damaged caused to the vehicle by the renter) is limited to £ 1,000.
For any damage resulting from hail, break-ins, accidents with animals, windscreen damage, etc (i.e. 'external influence' or 'freak' damage excluding damage caused by other people to the rental vehicle) the excess is limited to £ 1,000. Any damage to the tyres or the underbody of the vehicle is not insured and must be paid for by the renter.
The general regulations governing insurance in the UK apply as the foundation for this insurance policy. There are no additional insurance options available to reduce or waive the excess. The excess applies to each incident and will be charged separately if more than one incident occurs.
Important information: Due to insurance restrictions clients from the following countries are not allowed to rent a vehicle with McRent in the UK (not even with an International Driving License): Afghanistan, African Countries (except South Africa), Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cambodia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Montenegro, North & South Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Papa New Guinea, Phillipines, Romania, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, Venezuela, Vietnam and Yemen.
If you are from one of these countries, please choose a different rental company.
You are required to provide a deposit of £ 1,000 (to cover the excess) when you pick up the vehicle and this can only be done with a credit card. Accepted credit cards are Visa and Mastercard. Please note that pre-paid credit cards are NOT accepted. You will not be able to pick up your motorhome unless you present a valid credit card.
The deposit is deducted from the credit card at pick-up and if the vehicle is returned in good condition it will be credited back. All credit card deductions are processed in GBP. Neither the rental company nor the tour operator is liable to pay any cost differences that occur between the cost of the deducted bond and the reimbursement which result from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees.
Please ensure you have adequate available credit on your credit card.
The deposit is reimbursed in entirety by McRent as long as the motorhome is returned with full fuel tanks, clean and undamaged. The rental company reserves the right to charge fees for any damage, necessary cleaning fees, a late drop-off and fines incurred during the rental period. These fees are deducted from the credit card in arrears.
If an accident occurs with another vehicle or the driver of another vehicle flees the scene, the renter is liable up to the limit of the excess. The excess is deducted in the first instance - regardless of who is at fault.
The excess is deducted separately for each individual incident within the upper limit. It is reimbursed as soon as the rental company receives any damage payments from a third party, which can take some time.
All insurance cover is null and void if the terms of the McRent rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions is not covered by the insurance.
Any water and/or saltwater related damage where the renter is at fault is not covered by the insurance. The insurance does not cover damage in the case of any vehicle submersion, the vehicle being stranded in a water area, driving through causeways or beach driving.
Any personal property that is damaged or stolen during an accident, vandalism or a theft is not insured. Private insurance should be purchased in your home country to cover any such issues. In order to avoid theft of personal items from the vehicle it is advised not to leave any valuable items in the vehicle.
In the following cases the renter is liable for the full amount of damage caused either to the rented vehicle or to the property of a third party involved:
- any vehicle submersion or the vehicle being stranded in a water area
- damage resulting from creek or river crossings, driving through causeways or beach driving
- activities that are in breach of the rental agreement conditions, e.g. driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or dangerous driving
- damage caused by the use of the wrong fuel or when water or oil, etc are not topped up to minimum required levels (causing overheating, frost damage, etc) or where warning signals in the vehicle are ignored
- costs that arise for towing and recovery of vehicles that have been stranded or submerged as a result of the driver's negligence
- vehicle theft due to the driver's or passengers' negligence
- repairs and towing costs that are incurred because of driving on restricted roads or in forbidden areas
- tyre damage that is not a result of faults in the welding
- costs for vehicle keys that have either been lost or locked in the vehicle
- if the driver leaves an accident scene or does not report an accident or damage to the police
- damage caused because the driver disregarded height / weight restrictions or the size of the vehicle
- damage due to overloading of the vehicle
- damage to the interior of the vehicle
- personal property that is damaged in an accident or is either stolen or damaged during theft is not insured
- damage is caused as a result of other people using the vehicle without the permission of the rental company
The renter is liable for any fees, costs, fines or penalties that occur during his/her use of the rental vehicle unless any such costs that have taken place are the fault of the rental company.
If speeding tickets and parking fines and/or accidents, etc (e.g. that have not been mentioned to the rental company) come to light the rental company reserves the right to invoice the customer for these costs in arrears as well as a processing fee or charge their credit card.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage insurance, nor do they include cover for any damage to passengers. It is therefore recommended to obtain travel insurance that covers accidents, sickness and loss of luggage prior to departure.
All drivers must have held their driver licence for a minimum of 2 years at the time they pick up the motorhome. Drivers from outside the EU who have NO European Driver Licence (such as Australian, New Zealand, American and Canadian licence holders etc.) MUST present an international driver licence at pick-up along with their original national driver licence. Drivers from the EU with a European Driver Licence will only need to present their original national driver licence. We suggest you get in contact with the respective authority for that country before travelling.
Important note for UK licence holders:
From 08 Jun 15, the paper counterpart to the photocard UK driving licence will not be valid and no longer be issued by DVLA. Due to insurance reasons, the rental company requires the information formerly listed on the paper counterpart. You can check your details online www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence no more than 3 days before collection, print a copy of your counterpart and bring it with you when you pick up your vehicle.
UK/EU Category B licences as well as most standard licenses of most countries are valid for driving the following vehicles only (vehicle weight below 3,500 kg / 3.5 t incl. Contents and passengers).
- Urban Plus, Luxury
- Compact: Plus, Luxury
- Family: Standard, Plus, Luxury
- Comfort: Standard, Plus, Luxury
For UK travellers: If you passed your driving test prior to 01/01/1997 (when new standardised European Union driving license categories were introduced) and still have those driving permissions entered in your driving license you will be allowed to drive up to a total weight of approx. 7,500kg. This information is provided after discussion with the DVLA but please note that we cannot be held responsible for the accuracy of their statements.
Some standard Australian driving licenses allow you to drive vehicles up to 4.5 tons so please have a close look at your national licence to make sure your licence works within the parameters of your preferred vehicle.
If in doubt, if you have a non-UK/EU licence or you have an EU category B license and are unsure about anything regarding total weights please just give us a call or send us an email to check which specifications are present in the vehicle you wish to book.
The minimum age for all registered drivers is 25 years. The maximum age is 75 years. Anyone younger or older than these limits is not permitted to drive the vehicles. The renter as well as all additional drivers who drive the vehicle need to have their driver licence for at least 2 years.
For every additional driver, a fee of £ 25 per driver/per day applies. Anyone wishing to drive the motorhome must have their details entered in the rental agreement.
The renter is required to provide the names and addresses of any drivers (even if they only drive the vehicle briefly) to the rental company. The renter is responsible and liable for the actions of any of the other registered drivers.

This can lead to variations in the load capacity allowed.
All information provided here is based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We cannot be held responsible for any errors or miscommunication that may occur and the information on our website can be amended at any time without prior notice.
The vehicles are only permitted for use on sealed, public, official roads. Some of the McRent vehicles are equipped with a GPS that will allow the company to locate the vehicles in case of theft.
It is forbidden to drive the motorhome to any country in a state of war or in another crisis.
Anyone who drives on unsealed or prohibited stretches of road or to forbidden areas or countries does so at his/her own risk. The renter is liable for any costs of repairs, retrieval or towing that are a result of break-downs or accidents in these areas and no insurance cover is provided. The vehicle is also not allowed to come in contact with salt water.
One-way rentals (vehicle pick-up at location 'A' and drop-off at location 'B') are possible from London to Edinburgh and vice versa for a fee and if booked in advance.
All of the rental vehicles (except for vehicles of the categories 'Urban' and 'Compact') can handle winter conditions, i.e. they are built with a reinforced floor, etc. In the winter months the facilities such as shower, toilet, etc can be used.
Please note, however, that there is no insurance cover provided if any damage occurs as a result of freezing, etc, e.g. if you do not maintain a high enough average temperature in the vehicle to avoid damage to tanks, water heating apparatus and hosing this will count as negligence and there is no insurance cover then provided, i.e. the renter will be fully liable to cover all costs incurred.
Please allow for the fact - when planning out your route, that camping grounds in certain areas may close during the winter. Some roads, especially in alpine areas may also be closed for driving or may be simply too dangerous to drive on.

The rental company does not allow a renter to effectively alter the rental agreement by extended use of a vehicle beyond the booked drop-off date.

The vehicles are no older than 3 years and McRent will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided. However, it reserves the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances it has to provide a different vehicle if the model booked is not available or has been damaged by a previous renter. No additional rental costs will be charged in this case. If McRent is forced to provide you with a smaller vehicle than the one you have booked they will reimburse the difference. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs, tolls or ferry costs, etc will not be reimbursed. This does not allow you to cancel the booking.
NOTE: You will be guaranteed a vehicle from a certain category but not of any specific size, make, colour or design. Even though vehicles within a category have similar equipment, the design, size, measurements and floor plan (e.g. bed sizes or interior features, etc) may differ slightly within any given vehicle category.
All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We cannot accept responsibility for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details.

In the event of an accident, breakdown or technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company, the McRent partner or the nearest 'Dethleffs' office immediately. All McRent vehicles undergo strict quality control. However, problems can still occur from time to time. Please note: Small repairs or necessary expenses that are necessary to ensure the smooth running and upkeep of the vehicle that cost up to £ 150 can be carried out without prior communication with the rental company and will be reimbursed to you at vehicle drop-off time. For repairs that will cost more than £ 150 you are required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed (otherwise no reimbursements can be provided). Any repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt as well as the replaced parts (where applicable).
If you have an accident, there is a fire or theft or you hit a wild animal, etc the police and the rental company need to be contacted immediately and any third party demands should not to be agreed to. In an accident the police report must include the name and address of the people involved as well as any witnesses along with the vehicle registration details of any vehicles involved. Even in the case of minor damage the renter is required to provide McRent with a detailed written report and a sketch outlining the situation.
NOTE: If you do not inform the rental company and police immediately and if the company is not given the opportunity to find a solution to your problem there will be no grounds for compensation.

Pets or other animals are permitted - upon prior approval from McRent and only for a fee - in some of the rental vehicles as long as the breed and size is stated as part of the booking and the vehicle is returned in the same condition in which it was collected. Otherwise, special cleaning fees will be charged.
If you plan to take your motorhome on a ferry we strongly suggest that you book this well in advance. We recommend that you book a space on the ferry for a vehicle of at least one size larger than the booked vehicle, just in case you are upgraded to a larger vehicle at the depot.

- Pick-up/Drop-off fee on Saturdays (automatically factored into the total price during the online booking process if applicable)
- External vehicle cleaning*
The cost for cleaning the exterior of the vehicle is included in our rates. You are still required to return the motorhome with a clean interior, otherwise a fee of up to £ 75 will be charged.

- Towel set: per person; includes 1 bath towel, hand towel and tea towel

Even though all vehicles come with very similar designs and layouts variations can sometimes occur within any given vehicle category in terms of design, colour, size, measurements, floorplan (interior decor, layout, bed size, etc).
This fee is necessary to cover European/Irish roadside assistance. For McRent Nottingham driving outside of the United Kingdom is not permitted.

Otherwise, special cleaning fees will be charged.
