For flex rate bookings the following applies:
There is a corresponding flex rate for each rental day. A certain flex rate is valid for one week from Wednesday to Tuesday. Depending on which day of the week you start your hire, the corresponding flex rate is valid for all rental days until the next Tuesday. From Wednesday on, the corresponding flex rate of this week is valid for the following rental days until Tuesday, and so on.
Pick-up and drop-off days are counted as one day in total, i.e. each rental night is used for the price calculation in the same way it is done by hotels. To find out which flex rate is currently valid for the vehicle you are interested in, just click for a price calculation for the desired rental duration. The flex rate is calculated by the rental company on the basis of supply and demand and is adjusted every Sunday.
Note: If you wish to make any changes to your booking the booking will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate at the time of the booking change, depending on which rate is higher.
The following situations are classified as booking alterations.
- Change of date for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of location (depot) for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of vehicle category
- Name change
If you decide to extend your rental duration by 2 days to a date that is later than the original drop-off date, the same flex rate is used that applied on the day when you made your original booking. If you extend this by 3 days or more, the booking change rule applies as outlined above.
The cancellation fees apply as stated in Motorhome Bookers' booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked, no refunds will be provided.
- Petrol/Diesel, propane gas
- Transfers (unless you book the EBDS)
- One-way fees (for exceptions, please see special offers)
- Fees for vehicle kit and personal kits (except for the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Option)
- All taxes and fees that are payable on services purchased at pick-up
- Environmental Fee of CA$ 9,95 per rental + tax
Kilometre allowances and transfers (EBDS) can only be booked in advance.
There is no kilometre allowance included with the flex rates.
You can conveniently add the following kilometre packages to your booking as part of our online booking process, which is cheaper than paying for individual kilometres at the rental depot. It is mandatory to pre-book 100 kilometres at least.
Option 1: You can book kilometre allowances in advance in packages of 100 kilometres.
Option 2: You can book kilometre allowances in advance in packages of 500 kilometres. Any kilometres that you drive above this limit cost CA$ 0.38 per km + taxes, payable locally.
Option 3: You can purchase the Unlimited Kilometres Option in advance.
Option 4: You can purchase the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Option in advance.
This option includes:

Note:
- These kilometres options can only be booked in advance and are not available at the rental depot.

The transfer costs are only included if you book the Early Bird Departure Special (EBDS) and usually from/to the nearest airport/airport hotels or downtown hotels. Otherwise, you are expected to look after local transfers yourself. For a detailed Transfer Area Map, please refer to 'Rental Depots' or 'Transfer Hotels' in the Cruise Canada section of our website and click on the depot in question. The price for the EBDS package will be displayed during the online quoting/booking process on our website.
In addition to the transfers, the EBDS package allows you to pick up your vehicle in the morning and drop it off in the afternoon.
Note: The EBDS can only be booked at least 30 days in advance of the pick-up date. A pick-up or drop-off on Sundays or public holidays is never possible.

One-way rentals (vehicle pick-up at location 'A' and drop-off at location 'B') are not possible between Canada and USA. For one-way rentals within Canada, a fee is charged. One way rentals are available upon request with advance bookings. The following one-way fees are payable locally at the depot when you pick up the vehicle:
From \ To | Calgary | Halifax | Montreal | Toronto | Vancouver |

Motorhome Bookers accepts no responsibility for any changes made by either the government or the rental company to locally payable taxes or fees.
Public liability insurance
The public liability insurance is included in the daily rental rate. The rental company is insured for damages to third parties and/or their property up to a limit of CA$ 10 million.
The public liability insurance that covers the registered drivers is only up to the statutory limit as stipulated by law of the province you are in at the time. This insurance amount is normally very low.
Top Service Inclusion:
The rental company has included a Primary Cover insurance in the rental rates which increases the driver's public liability insurance level
to CA$ 1 million - well above the statutory limits.
The Primary Cover insurance covers claims made by third parties against the rental company or the renter of the motorhome (for damage
to third parties or their property). Passengers in the rented motorhome are not counted as third parties and the driver is therefore not
insured for claims brought forward by them against him/herself.
Vehicle insurance
The VIP vehicle insurance is also included in the rental rate for all vehicles. This insurance reduces the renter's personal level of risk/excess to CA$ 2,500 (per incident) if the rental vehicle is damaged, in the event of theft or vandalism, regardless of how or by whom any damage to the vehicle occurs - including if the renter is not at fault. To see what kind of damage is not covered by the insurance see below under the heading 'Insurance Exclusions'.
The deductible can be reduced on site by the following additional insurance:
"Zero Deductible Police" (ZDP) at a rate of CA$ 14.95 per rental day (max. CA$ 448.50), payable locally when the vehicle is picked up.
This insurance reduces the deductible to 0 in the event of damage.
If damage occurs as a result of illegal or dangerous driving or if the renter drives outside the guidelines of the rental agreement, no insurance will be provided. Please see below under 'Insurance Exclusions' for further details.
The deposit which you are required to provide when you pick up the vehicle applies as an excess for each separate incident of damage. The deposit of CA$ 500 is payable by credit card only (pre-paid cards are not allowed).
The amount is deducted from your account at pick-up. The deposit is deducted in Canadian Dollars. Neither the rental company nor the tour operator is liable to pay any cost differences that occur between the cost of the deducted deposit and the reimbursement resulting from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees.
Please ensure that you have enough credit available on your credit card.
The deposit applies for each and any incident where the rental vehicle or the property of a third party is damaged. In such cases a further bond will be required to cover the excess in any future incidents.
The excess (deposit) is always banked in the first instance, regardless of who is at fault and is owed to the rental company by the renter. The excess is refunded as soon as the rental company receives a payment from a third party and the excess is deducted every time an accident occurs.
All insurance cover is null and void if any terms of the Cruise Canada rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions is not covered by the insurance.
Any water and/or saltwater related damage where the renter is at fault is not covered by the insurance. The insurance does not cover damage in the case of vehicle submersion, the vehicle being stranded in a water area, driving through causeways or beach driving.
There is no insurance cover if you drive into Mexico.
Any personal property that is damaged or stolen during an accident, vandalism or a theft is not insured. Private insurance should be purchased in your home country to cover any such issues. In order to avoid theft of personal items from the vehicle it is advised not to leave any valuable items in the vehicle.
In the cases listed below the renter is fully liable for damage to the rental vehicle and third-party property, i.e. no insurance cover whatsoever is provided:
- water/saltwater-related damage as listed above
- activities that are in breach of the rental agreement terms, e.g. driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or dangerous driving (especially with regard to trailers and camping appendages)
- damage caused by the use of the wrong fuel or when water or oil, or any other liquids are not topped up to minimum required levels (causing overheating, frost damage, etc.) or where warning signals in the vehicle are ignored
- costs that arise for towing and recovery of vehicles that have been stranded or submerged as a result of the driver's actions.
- repairs and towing costs that are incurred because of driving on forbidden roads or in restricted areas
- costs incurred if vehicle keys are either lost or locked in the vehicle
- if damage is caused as a result of people using the vehicle without the permission (not registered in rental agreement) of the rental company
- if more passengers are in the car than the maximum number allowed
- if any member of the rental party deliberately damages any part of the vehicle
All credit card payments are made in Canadian Dollars. Neither the rental company nor the tour operator are liable to pay any cost differences resulting from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees that occur between the cost of the bond being deducted and the reimbursement .
The renter is liable for any fees, costs, fines or penalties that occur during his/her use of the rental vehicle unless any such costs that have taken place are the fault of the rental company. Where speeding tickets and parking fines and/or accidents, that have not been mentioned to the rental company come to light, the rental company reserves the right to invoice the customer for these costs in arrears as well as a processing fee of CA$ 250 or charge their credit card.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage insurance, nor do they include cover for any damage to the driver or passengers. It is therefore recommended to obtain travel insurance that covers accidents, sickness and loss of luggage prior to departure.
A valid UK, Australian, New Zealand or European license is accepted for use in Canada as long as the details are also provided in English. If the license does not list information in English, an international driving license is required in addition to the original.
Cruise Canada does not allow international tour operators such as ourselves to place bookings for customers residing in the USA or Canada. Please select one of our other Canada RV rental partners if this is the case.
The minimum age for registered drivers is 21 years.
Additional drivers can be registered when you pick up the vehicle for no extra cost. Anyone wanting to drive the motorhome must have their details entered in the rental agreement and present valid documents.
Before you can collect your vehicle you are required to present a valid driving license, credit card (compulsory), your passport as well as the Motorhome Bookers voucher at the depot.
Please note carefully the maximum number of passengers allowed per vehicle as per the details provided when you click on the picture of your vehicle and view the vehicle specifications on our website.
Minimum hire:
- 7 days
If 4 or more vehicles are requested for the same travel period, it is considered a group booking. Group bookings are subject to different rates and a different cancellation policy, therefore group bookings have to be approved by Cruise Canada prior to confirmation.
Even if the vehicles are booked on different dates but travelling together, Cruise Canada reserves the right to apply group booking conditions afterwards.
Every vehicle is equipped with the following (included in preparation fee):

The above-mentioned items may vary slightly from depot to depot and Motorhome Bookers cannot be held responsible for any late changes made by the rental company to the contents of the kits.
You can rent a generator for the C30 motorhome at the depot for a fee of CA$ 8 per day or CA$ 3.50 per hour of usage. If you book the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Option in advance with Motorhome Bookers, the unlimited generator usage is already included.
Camping chairs are available at pick-up for CA$ 12 per rental (pending availability).
Other extras, such as camping tables, cannot be reserved in advance. Some depots have them but others do not and this can vary such that you can only ask for them at pick-up time. Cruise Canada does not rent out GPS units, child seats, bikes or bike racks.
In Canada, wearing a seatbelt is mandatory.
Children under 1 year of age or weighing less than 9 kg are required to be seated in a rear-facing baby seat that is securely fastened. Children from the age of 1 and weighing less than 18kg must use a baby or booster seat attached with a seatbelt. No child seat is required if the child is at least 9 years old or 145 cm tall. For more detailed information on the requirements of each province / territory, please refer to Safe Kids Canada.
Only 1 baby seat or 1 child seat can be fitted to the motorhomes of Cruise Canada. Booster seats are possible additionally.
In all Cruise Canada vehicles are 2 tether hooks for attaching a child seat, please see the guide for the child seat set up here.
Cruise Canada does not provide baby/booster seats for rental. Please note that you are required to bring these seats with you.
You are not permitted to drive on unsealed roads, forest roads and on other private roads or terrain.
Travel on non-public roads, unpaved backroads, trails and/or logging roads, or any surface subjecting the vehicle to unreasonable damage or road hazard is prohibited.
You are allowed to drive your vehicle into the USA as long as you return it to the booked depot in Canada. However, in July and August it is forbidden to drive in the Death Valley and other desert areas. In May, June and September this is only permitted if you do so at your own risk, whereby you are not covered by the insurance.
It is not permitted to drive to Manhatten, New York City (It is ok to drive in New York State), as well as on certain highways, e.g. 'The Apache Trail' in Arizona. Underground or underwater tunnels are also forbidden.
You are not allowed to drive to Mexico.
Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Newfoundland:
Travel on all public and/or numbered roads is permitted. Travel on non-public roads, unpaved back roads, trails and the like - commonly called 'logging roads' or on any surface subjecting the vehicle to unreasonable damage or road hazard is prohibited. Cruise Canada reserves the right to restrict travel dependent on current road conditions.
Please note, services may be limited in these remote areas and Cruise Canada will not be held responsible for any loss of holiday time should service be required and not received in a timely manner nor for costs incurred due to a breakdown or accident in these areas.
One-way rentals (vehicle pick-up at location 'A' and drop-off at location 'B') are not possible between Canada and USA. For one-way rentals within Canada, a fee is charged. One-way rentals are available if you request them with your booking. The one-way fees are payable locally at the depot when you pick up the vehicle (please refer to section 'Additional Costs')
Please note that the renter is liable for any damage to the vehicle resulting from frost, exposure to the cold, freezing of the tanks, warm water tanks and connections and damage such as this is not covered by the insurance.
Every rental vehicle has to be 'winterised' between the months of November and April (this period can vary depending on current weather conditions).
If it is likely that you will experience temperature levels below zero, all connections such as water and chemical tanks should be emptied. If frost temperatures are expected the rental depot will have already winterised the vehicle by emptying the water to avoid freezing, etc prior to your pick-up date. Winterised, by definition, means that the water has to be emptied out of all water tanks. Following this it is not permitted to pour any more water into the fresh water tank and none of the water connections can be used any more. No water in the vehicle is available for use.
The renter is then required to purchase his/her own bottled water (e.g. drinking water) and to cover these costs him/herself.
The basins, sink, showers and toilets can no longer be used. However, the toilet can be partially flushed as long as only the windscreen wiper anti-frost fluid is used. If there is a heavy frost the toilet should not even be flushed like this and you will need to use public toilets.
The renter bears all responsibility for ensuring the vehicle remains winterised and for returning the vehicle in this state if the vehicle was collected in a warmer region such that the vehicle was not winterised or if this state is altered during the rental period. If the renter does not adhere to these guidelines - regardless of what weather conditions are present at drop-off time, a fee will be charged and the bond will be withheld until the vehicle is again winterised by a specialist and returned to the rental company.
The renter will be held responsible for any costs resulting from the vehicle being damaged such as when the tanks, engine elements and pipes are damaged due to freezing, frost, etc. In such cases there is no insurance cover.
Please allow for the fact - when planning out your route, that camping grounds in certain areas may close during the winter. Some roads, especially in alpine areas may also be closed for driving or may be simply too dangerous to drive on.
The international rental depots are Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. Any Cruise Canada depots other than those listed here are only available to North American residents.
The depots are open as follows:

Saturdays 0900 - 1400hrs
Sundays 0830 - 1700hrs from May 2022 untill 03 October 2022, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto only
On Saturdays during low season it is possible that some depots decide to close at noon if there are only few pick-ups/drop-offs scheduled. If you're collecting your vehicle on a Saturday please make sure to contact the depot a few days before or at least on the morning of pick-up.
The depots are closed on the following public holidays:
2022: 15 Apr, 17 Apr, 22 May, 23 May, 24 Jun (Montreal only), 01 Jul, 31 July and 01 Aug (Vancouver and Halifax only), 04 Sep, 05 Sep, 10 Oct, 11 Nov (Vancouver and Calgary only), 25 Dec, 26 Dec
2023: 01 Jan, 02 Jan, 20 Feb (Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto only)
The depot in Halifax is open from 16 Apr 22 to 08 Oct 22 only.
If you book the Early Bird Departure Special (EBDS) you are allowed to pick up your motorhome before 1200hrs. Otherwise this is only possible from 1300 - 1600hrs.
You are generally required to spend your first night in Canada in a hotel (or similar) after your international flight. For insurance reasons it is not possible for you to collect the vehicle on the day of your arrival.
With flights in the US, you could pick up the vehicle on the same day. However, Cruise America will NOT be responsible for accommodating late arrivals due to flight delays or delays related to clearing US Customs, Passport Control or Baggage Claim. Overnight stays in a hotel before departure are therefore welcome, however, they are NOT mandatory. .
You are required to return the rental vehicle at the booked Cruise Canada depot between 0900 and 1100hrs, unless you have booked the Early Bird Departure Special (EBDS), in which case you are allowed to return the vehicle as late as 1500hrs.
Suggestion: if your return flight is at noon or earlier, we recommend that you drop off your motorhome at the depot on the day before your flight and spend the night in a hotel.
If the vehicle is not returned to the agreed depot or not at the agreed time, Cruise Canada will charge CA$ 25 per hour and the airport transfer will be cancelled. There are no refunds provided if the vehicle is returned earlier than the date and time booked.
The rental company reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee at vehicle drop-off up to CA$ 150 if the vehicle is returned with an excessively dirty interior and/or the toilet and waste water tank haven't been emptied, depending on local conditions.
Both fuel and propane gas need to be filled up to the same level which was recorded at pick-up time. At some depots a security bond is required to cover this risk or a small fee may be charged so that you don't have to bring these tanks back full.
If the vehicle is returned in a damaged state the appropriate fees will be charged as outlined in the Cruise Canada rental conditions.
Transfers are only provided if you book the Early Bird Departure Special (EBDS) and usually from/to the nearest airport/airport hotels or downtown hotels.
This special includes: (the price will be displayed during the online quoting/booking process on our website)
- Transfer from a designated transfer hotel from approx. 0830hrs
- Vehicle departure before 1200hrs
- Late Return Option until 1500hrs
- Return transfer to designated hotel/airport after drop-off arranged by the depot
Please call the depot on the day before your pick-up or early the same morning. You should never arrive at the depot without calling first. The EBDS transfers commence at around 0830hrs. Vehicle pick-up takes place up until 1200hrs. Drop-off should ideally take place by 1300hrs, but definitely no later than 1500hrs. The last transfer after drop-off departs at 1600hrs.
The rental company will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided. However, it reserves the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances it has to provide either a vehicle of the same or a higher value without upgrade costs if the model booked is not available for any reason. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs or ferry crossings costs, etc will not be reimbursed. This does not enable the renter to cancel his/her booking and there is no ground for a refund.
Even though all vehicles have similar equipment and designs small differences in vehicle design may exist. All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We cannot take responsibility for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details.
This information on our website can be changed at any time without prior notice.
The rental company reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee at vehicle drop-off up to CA$ 150 if the vehicle is returned with an excessively dirty interior and/or the toilet and waste water tank haven't been emptied, depending on local conditions. Propane gas and fuel tanks must also be returned at the same level which was recorded at pick-up time for refund of deposit.
Despite regular quality control checks problems can still arise with the vehicles from time to time.
In the event of an accident, break-down, technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company immediately on the toll-free service line provided. A nationwide network of contracted mechanics is available in such cases. In an accident the police need to be contacted and the rental company should be informed within no longer than 24 hours. Third party demands are not to be agreed to and the police report must include the name and address of the people involved as well as any witnesses, along with all vehicle registration details. Even in the case of minor damage the renter is required to provide a detailed written report to Cruise outlining the situation.
Note: If you do not inform Cruise Canada immediately about the need for a repair and if the company is not given the opportunity to help you find you a solution no compensation will be provided. If the renter informs the rental company about any vehicle problems after the vehicle has been returned, but without having informed the rental company during the rental period no insurance cover nor compensation will be provided.
Small repairs up to CA$ 75 can be carried out without prior notifcation of the rental company and will be reimbursed at vehicle drop-off time. For repairs that will cost more than CA$ 75 you are required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed (otherwise no repairs will be reimbursed). Repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.
If the vehicle is out of action (due to a mechanical breakdown*, not an accident) for longer than 12 hours - and this not being the fault of the renter, Cruise will reimburse the costs for accommodation and transport at a rate of CA$ 30 per person per day up to a maximum of CA$ 3,000.
*Mechanical breakdown: Cruise Canada does not provide compensation for damage or problems to the following items: problems with radio/CD player, TV, microwave, air conditioning, fridge, all appliances such as the oven, water pump, shower and toilet, generator, automatic steps, cruise control and GPS.
You are permitted to take pets with you in the motorhomes but only if you request this specifically when you make a booking.
Please note that the renter is always responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is then cleaned thoroughly in such cases, otherwise a fee of up to CA$ 250 will apply. The renter is also fully liable for any damage caused as a result of having pets in the vehicle.
Smoking is not permitted in the vehicles. If this rule is not adhered to Cruise Canada will charge considerable fees at drop-off time.
If you are planning to take your motorhome on a ferry we recommend that you make your ferry reservation as early as possible. Cruise Canada recommends that you always book the ferry for a 30ft vehicle, just in case you are upgraded to a larger vehicle than booked. This will avoid any problems with the ferry company. You can book your ferry ride through the Inside Passage with BC FERRIES by clicking on: BC FERRIES.

- Change of location (depot) for vehicle pick-up or drop-off

For a detailed Transfer Area Map, please refer to 'Rental Depots' or 'Transfer Hotels' in the Cruise Canada section of our website and click on the depot in question. The price for the EBDS package will be displayed during the online quoting/booking process on our website.
In addition to the transfers, the EBDS package allows you to pick up your vehicle in the morning and drop it off in the afternoon.
Note: The EBDS can only be booked at least 30 days in advance of the pick-up date. A pick-up or drop-off on Sundays or public holidays is never possible.
Optional and payable locally (except for the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Package):
- CA$ 75 + tax per person (Personal kit)
plus
- CA$ 125 + tax per vehicle (vehicle kit)
The vehicle kit and personal kits are included if you book the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Package in advance with Motorhome Bookers. For more details regarding vehicle equipment please refer to the section 'Equipment & Extras'.
Calgary | -- | 700 | 700 | 700 | 700 |
Halifax | 700 | -- | 700 | 700 | 700 |

Note: For all amounts payable in CA$ at the depot, the following local sales taxes are charged on top of the published price: Vancouver 12%, Toronto 13%, Montreal 14.975%, Halifax 15%, Calgary 5%
110-volt adapter, fresh water hose, waste water hose, instruction manual, electricity cable, KOA campground guide, KOA value card, Regional Campground guide (if available), along with a starter pack of toilet paper and chemicals and matches.
Additionally, optional and payable locally (except for the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Package):
- CA$ 75 + tax per person for the personal kit.
plus
- CA$ 125 + tax per vehicle per hire for the vehicle kit.
The convenience kit includes the following for each person: sleeping bag/comforter, pillow, pillow case, sheet, bath towels, face cloths, tea towel
The vehicle kit includes: cookware, cooking spoon, spatula, tea kettle, broom, flashlight, cutlery, plates and bowls, mixing bowl, cups, glasses, colander, plastic pail, can opener, carving/paring knife.
The vehicle kit and personal kits are included if you book the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Package in advance with Motorhome Bookers.

Saturdays 0900 - 1400hrs
Sundays 0830 - 1700hrs from May untill the beginning of October, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto only
On Saturdays during low season it is possible that some depots decide to close at noon if there are only few pick-ups/drop-offs scheduled. If you're collecting your vehicle on a Saturday please make sure to contact the depot a few days before or at least on the morning of pick-up.
The depots are closed on the following public holidays:
2023: 07 Apr, 22 May, 23 Jun/24 Jun and 25 Jun (only Montreal), 01 Jul, 07 Aug (only Vancouver and Halifax), 04 Sep, 09 Oct

- Fees for vehicle kit and personal kits (except for the Unlimited Kilometres Plus Option)

Please note carefully the maximum number of passengers allowed per vehicle as per the details provided when you click on the picture of your vehicle and view the vehicle specifications on our website.

The depots are closed on the following public holidays:
2024: 19 May, 20 May, 23/24 Jun (only Montreal), 30 Jun, 01 Jul, 04/05 Aug (only Halifax), 01 Sep, 02 Sep, 13 Oct, 14 Oct, 11 Nov (only Vancouver and Calgary), 25 Dec, 26 Dec (only Toronto)
All information provided has been put together by us (Motorhome Bookers GmbH & Co. OHG) in as much detail as possible and on the basis of the information made available to us.
