One moment please, we are searching for the best offers for your motorhome holiday.

The fuel tank and LP gas bottle have to be full at drop-off, unless the Express Return option has been purchased (please refer to the section 'Additional Costs').

The following long hire discount is applicable:
- For 21 day rentals and more, a 5% discount off the standard rates applies.
The discount is deducted from the 5 - 20 day standard rates and does not apply to the All Inclusive option. The long hire discount can be adjusted during the year.
Should a customer have more than one consecutive rental they can be combined to qualify for longer-term hire discounts off the vehicle rate. Consecutive motorhome hire in Australia and New Zealand for Maui, Britz and Mighty can be combined to qualify if the vehicle collection date/s are within a 3-month period. For all rentals to qualify each booking needs to be made at the same time. If a customer makes another booking at a later time, the new booking can be combined to qualify if the vehicle collection date/s are within a 3-month period however, the original booking/s will only qualify for a discount if the booking/s are not already travelling or travelled.
Longer-term discounts must be requested at the time of booking.
If multiple hires are within the same country and total days exceed 50 days, only the maximum charge applicable to the Liability Reduction Option or the All Inclusive option will apply. If combining a vehicle hire with another Maui vehicle that has a more expensive All Inclusive option or Liability Reduction maximum cost, the more expensive option is applied. In the instance where a Maui hire is being combined with a Britz or Mighty hire and the packages have the All Inclusive supplement, these components cannot be combined to have a maximum charge applied. However, the vehicle rate can have a longer-term discount applied if applicable.
One-way fees are charged for each individual rental, as are any applicable surcharges for hires in Queenstown.
If multiple hires total more than 100 days these rates and terms do not apply. Requests for quotes/bookings of more than 100 days need to be specifically requested by contacting us first.
Vehicle security deposits can be transferred between most multiple rentals. This service is available when the vehicle security deposit amount and currency is the same.
Each rental day corresponds to one calendar day, regardless of what time you collect or return the vehicle.
The flex rate that is available at the time of booking determines the daily rental rate. This price that applies from day one of your rental duration then applies for the entire rental period up to the 7th day. Every rental day from the 8th rental day on are counted as a new booking and the flex rate that applies for the 8th day will be used from then on. The flex rate that applies for the 15th rental day will be used from then, etc. As soon as you have booked, that rate is fixed, i.e. the price you pay per day will not change, even if the flex rates change at a later date.
To find out which flex rate is currently valid for the vehicle you are interested in, just click for a price calculation for your desired rental period. The base flex rate is calculated by the rental company on the basis of supply and demand and is adjusted once a week every Sunday.
For bookings of 5 vehicles or more or for long-term hires of 100 days or more we will need to place special request with Maui as there are other prices and conditions that apply in such cases. This also applies for multiple hires that add up to 100 days or more.
Note: If you decide to extend your rental duration before you actually collect your vehicle the same flex rate is used to calculate the additional rental days that applied on the day when you made your original booking as long as the original booking has not already since been changed. For all other changes to your booking this will be calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that applies at the time of the booking change, depending on which rate is higher.
The following situations are classified as booking alterations:
- Change of date for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of location (depot) for vehicle pick-up or drop-off
- Change of vehicle category

The cancellation fees apply as stated in the Motorhome Bookers booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked no refunds will be provided.

Children up to the age of 7 or weighing 36kg or less are legally required to be seated in a child or booster seat in New Zealand. These seats are available for rent from Maui at NZ$ 36 per seat/hire. Please note that not all Maui vehicles can accommodate child restraints. If you require a child or booster seat, please let us know the child's age and weight when you book. You need to book the seats in advance. Children between 0 and 4 years and up to 18kg must use a child seat, between 4 and 7 years (15kg-36kg) must use a booster seat.

We have sought to provide this information as accurately as possible. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any changes, such as additional fees charged by the rental company at pick-up or sudden local tax increases that may be made by the New Zealand government.
Standard insurance is included in the rental rates. The third-party element of this insurance comes with a maximum cover amount of NZ$ 20 million and covers bodily damage inflicted upon a third party. There is no insurance cover for injury caused to the renter or passengers of the rental vehicle and Maui does not provide an insurance option for this.
The renter is liable for an excess of up to NZ$ 7,500 per incident for damages in the event of an accident. This applies to any material damage to third-party property or the rental vehicle, regardless of who causes the accident. This liability remains in place until a third party admits liability and makes a payment to cover costs incurred.
With the standard insurance any damage to the motorhome or any third party property during the hire will need to be paid during the vehicle drop-off process at the end of the hire - if you did not book the All Inclusive Option in advance or the Liability Reduction locally. Costs incurred will be calculated and recovered at drop-off which requires sufficient time to enable a damage inspection.
To see a list of the types of damage where there is no insurance cover, please refer to the section 'Insurance Exclusions'.
In New Zealand, it is not compulsory for the locals to have third-party insurance. In the event of an accident or if someone flees the scene, the renter is liable for any damage caused within the limit of the excess. You can reduce the level of the excess or waive it as follows:
The All Inclusive Option can be booked in advance with us (see 'Inclusions' above - only available in advance - not at the depot). This option includes the 'Liability Reduction Option' supplement.
Alternatively, you have the option of purchasing the following insurance option locally as outlined below.

** = Single vehicle accident with roll over is only covered if you book the All Inclusive option
With the standard insurance, the deposit (which covers the level of the excess) can be provided by credit card only (Visa, Mastercard or American Express). Pre-paid credit cards, cash or travellers cheques are not accepted. Credit cards must be valid for 90 days following the end date of the rental. The owner of the credit card must be present and sign when providing the deposit and he/she is liable for any damages to the rental vehicle and to the property of third party. This deposit can only be provided by the renter as named in the booking and cannot be spread over 2 or more credit cards.
NOTE: Please ensure that you have sufficient funds on your credit card before departure.
All credit card payments are taken in New Zealand Dollars.
With any transactions made using a credit card, including provision of deposit administration charges will apply on top of the standard payment amounts as follows:
Visa, Mastercard: 2.7%
American Express: 5.2%
Credit card surcharges applicable to vehicle security deposits, where the card used is a Visa or MasterCard, are refunded when the vehicle is returned undamaged and the security deposit is refunded.
Neither the rental company nor the tour operator is liable to pay any differences resulting from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees that occur between the cost of the deducted deposit and the reimbursement.
For standard insurance (i.e. without the additional excess reduction):
The deposit of NZ$ 7,500 is deducted from the credit card when you collect your vehicle and is returned when you drop off the vehicle as long as the vehicle is returned without any damage or third party incidents having taken place. Any fluctuations in foreign exchange rates or fees are borne by the renter.
With the Liability Reduction Option or if you book the All Inclusive Option through Motorhome Bookers, an authorisation of the credit card is all that is required at pick-up time. The customer authorises Maui to charge any fees such as cleaning fees, speeding or parking fines, rental extensions etc.
The deposit will be reimbursed in full as long as the vehicle is returned in the same condition in which it was collected, with full petrol/diesel and LP Gas tanks. The rental company reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee of NZ$ 250 if the interior of the vehicle is excessively dirty at drop-off. The toilet and waste water tank must be completely empty, otherwise a further fee in the amount of the Express Return option will be charged on top.
The excess is always banked in the first instance, regardless of who is at fault and what is owed to the rental company by the renter. It applies per incident and if a further accident occurs, a separate deposit is then payable in the same amount. The excess is refunded to the renter if a third party admits liability and makes a payment to cover the corresponding costs. However, this can take some time.
If you choose the Liability Reduction Option, there is no excess at all and all damage to the rental vehicle including the roof, roof appendages or underbody or to the property of third parties is covered except for damage caused in situations as outlined in the section 'Insurance Exclusions' below and excluded damages according to the rental contract that has to be signed on pick up.
All insurance cover is null and void if the terms of the Maui New Zealand rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company's conditions is not covered by any insurance.
Any damage caused by water and/or saltwater where the renter is at fault is not covered by the insurance. The insurance does not cover damage in case of vehicle submersion, the vehicle being stranded in water, or resulting from driving on causeways or beach driving.
Damage from the vehicle rolling over (single vehicle accident) is not covered unless you purchased the All Inclusive option. A vehicle rollover is deemed to have occurred where damage to the vehicle results from the vehicle rolling or tipping to such a degree that any or all tyres lose normal contact with the road surface.
Unless you have the All Inclusive Option or purchase the Liability Reduction Option locally, any damage to the underbody, roof or roof appendages is not covered.
Any personal property that is damaged or stolen during an accident, vandalism or a theft is not insured. Private insurance should be purchased in your home country to cover any such issues. In order to avoid theft of personal items from the vehicle, it is advised to not leave any valuable items in the vehicle.
In the cases listed below, the renter is fully liable for damage to the rental vehicle and third-party property, i.e. no insurance cover whatsoever is provided:
- Any use of the vehicle prohibited under the maui Rental Agreement.
- Any damage caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle) or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or negligence.
- Any loss or damage to any personal belongings or property of the customer (or any person or entity related to the customer), except where such loss or damage is caused by maui’s (or that of its employees) own negligence or breach of the Maui Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions. Please do not leave valuables in the vehicle and take out personal travel insurance.
- Any damage where the customer is charged by local authorities for being careless, showing gross negligence or wilfulness in failing to abide by the local road rules, resulting in damage to the hired vehicle or third party vehicle/property.
- Retrieving or recovering a vehicle, which may include, but is not limited to a vehicle that has become bogged, submerged, caught, trapped, stuck or restricted in anyway and/or has been abandoned, in each case in circumstances within the control of the customer.
- Replacing keys, which have been lost or stolen, or retrieval of keys which have been locked in a vehicle.
- Any overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle however caused, except where Liability Reduction Option or the All Inclusive Package has been purchased.
- Any single vehicle rollover except where the All Inclusive Package has been purchased.
- Damage caused to the vehicle because total load (kg) has exceeded recommended load as stated in vehicle manual. Vehicles are not to be used for the purpose of transporting and haulage of goods other than what might be reasonably expected of a leisure rental.
- Damage caused by drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers whose licence has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a licence that is classified as a learners or probationary licence.
- Any damage caused to the vehicle due to the incorrect use of snow chains.
- Any damage associated with the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol), which includes Biofuel which should not be used, or water or other contamination of fuel.
- Any water related damage which includes, but is not limited to, vehicle submersion, contact with salt water, creek or river crossings, driving through flooded areas and beach driving.
- Any damage caused to the vehicle by a customer’s cat or dog.
Whilst we appreciate accidents may occur, there are also clearly cases of driver negligence where any insurance coverage is voided. This includes incidents where the driver is found to be in breach of the law in terms of speed, alcohol, drugs, or is found by the police or investigating authority to have been driving in a dangerous or negligent manner. In all such instances, Maui reserves the right to pursue full recovery from the renter.
All credit card payments are made in New Zealand Dollars.
With any transactions made using a credit card - for example for hire extensions or the purchase of any optional extras locally, additional administration charges will apply in addition to the standard payment amounts as follows:
- Visa, Mastercard: 2.7%
- American Express: 5.2%
Credit card surcharges applicable to vehicle security deposits, where the card used is a Visa or MasterCard, are refunded when the vehicle is returned undamaged and the security deposit is refunded.
Neither the rental company nor the tour operator is liable to pay any cost differences resulting from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees, which occur between the cost of the deducted deposit and the reimbursement.
Where speeding tickets, parking or freedom camping fines and/or accidents (e.g. that have not been mentioned to the rental company) come to light, the rental company reserves the right to invoice the customer for these costs in arrears as well as a processing fee of NZ$ 60 or charge their credit card.
The vehicle is equipped with a Telematic System for monitoring the travel speed. If you receive 3 or more notifications for travelling at excessive speed you agree, that Maui may impose a NZ$ 300 fee to your credit card.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage insurance, nor do they include cover for any damage to the driver or passengers. It is therefore recommended to obtain travel insurance that covers accidents, sickness and loss of luggage prior to departure.
A current national driving licence is valid for use in New Zealand as long as the details are also provided in English. If the licence does not list information in English, an international driving licence is then required together with the original. The driver must have possessed a full and valid driving licence for at least one year at pick-up time.
It is legally required in New Zealand - in the case of a random police check- that every renter who possesses a national driving licence in any language other than English is also able to present either an international driving licence or an officially authorised English translation of this licence. This must be presented along with the national licence and one is not valid without the other.
The minimum age for registered drivers is 21 years.
Additional drivers can be registered at the time of vehicle collection. The fee per additional driver is NZ$ 2 per day (max. NZ$ 30 per hire) unless you book the All Inclusive option with Motorhome Bookers. Anyone wanting to drive the motorhome must have their details entered in the rental agreement.
Before you can collect your vehicle you are required to present a valid driving licence, credit card (compulsory), your passport as well as the Motorhome Bookers voucher at the depot.
Please note carefully the maximum number of passengers allowed per vehicle as per the details provided when you click on the picture of your vehicle and view the vehicle specifications on our website.

Any costs for breakdowns or accidents and the resulting need for towing or vehicle recovery services are therefore not covered. However, they reserve the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances to provide either a vehicle of the same or a higher value without any upgrade costs if the model booked is not available for any reason. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs or ferry crossings costs, etc will not be reimbursed. This does not enable the renter to cancel his/her booking and there are no grounds for compensation.
Even though all vehicles have similar equipment and designs small differences in vehicle design may exist. All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We can not accept responsibility for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details. This information on our website can be changed at any time without prior notice.
The rental company reserves the right to charge a fee of NZ$ 250 if the interior of any returned vehicle is very dirty. Toilets and waste water tanks must be completely emptied, otherwise a further fee in the amount of the Express Return option will be charged.
The petrol/diesel and LPG gas tanks must be returned full (unless you have purchased the Express Return option at pick-up).
Despite regular quality control, problems can still arise with the vehicles from time to time.
In the event of an accident, break-down, technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company immediately and within a maximum time-frame of 24 hours on the toll-free service line (not guaranteed to work or to be free if called from overseas mobile phones).
A nationwide network of contracted mechanics are available in such cases. Small repairs (if the driver is not at fault) or necessary expenses for the upkeep of the vehicle up to NZ$ 200 can be carried out without prior communication with the rental company and will be reimbursed to you at vehicle drop-off time. For anything that will cost more than NZ$ 200 you are required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed. Repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.
Note: If you do not inform Maui immediately about the need for a repair and if the company is not given the opportunity to help you find you a solution no compensation will be provided.
Pets or other animals are not permitted inside the rental vehicles, with the exception of registered guide dogs for visually impaired passengers.
If you are planning to take the ferry between the North and South Island (in either direction), and you are travelling between September and March you should make a reservation.
The ferry crossing takes approx. 3.5 hours and is a fantastic experience. You can change your reservation locally if there is space available on the day in question. This change is free of charge if made at least 1 day in advance of your originally booked crossing.
We can make the reservation for you at no extra charge. You then pay the rental company for this at the depot when you collect the vehicle. You will receive the ticket then too. You can find detailed information including how to book it directly on the internet on the Interislander website.
All information provided has been put together by us (Motorhome Bookers GmbH & Co. OHG) in as much detail as possible and on the basis of the information made available to us. This information has been taken from the rental company's conditions which they have provided to us. Any additional conditions are included in the rental agreement which is entered into by yourself and the rental company. You will receive the complete list of rental conditions with your rental agreement, which you sign when you pick up your vehicle. We cannot accept responsibility for any differences that come to light between our list of conditions and those of the rental company.

- Name change
The cancellation fees apply as stated in the Motorhome Bookers booking conditions.
If the vehicle is collected later than the pick-up day booked, or returned earlier than booked no refunds will be provided.

Children up to the age of 7 or weighing 36kg or less are legally required to be seated in a child or booster seat in New Zealand. These seats are available for rent from Maui at NZ$ 42 per seat/hire.
Local taxes on all prepaid items are included in the price you pay to us.
The only exception is the Road User Charge Recovery Fee, which is payable locally unless you purchase the Express Return Option (see 'Equipment/Extras' for further details).
The cost for this is as follows (per 100 kilometres travelled):
- Cascade, Ultima and Ultima Plus: NZ$ 7.64
- Platinum 4 Beach, Platinum 6 River: NZ$ 8.04
For any amounts which are payable in NZ$ at the depot, 15% GST tax will be charged.

The rental company reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee of NZ$ 299 if the interior of the vehicle is excessively dirty at drop-off. The toilet and waste water tank must be completely empty, otherwise a further fee will be charged on top.
The fee per additional driver is NZ$ 2.50 per day (max. NZ$ 37.50 per hire) unless you book the All Inclusive option with Motorhome Bookers.

The renter is liable of any damage that is incurred on uninsured terrain or restricted roads as outlined above such that if you drive in these areas or on these roads, you do so at your own risk. Any costs for breakdowns or accidents and the resulting need for towing or vehicle recovery services are therefore not covered. The vehicle is also not allowed to come in contact with salt water, otherwise the insurance is null and void.

Maui motorhomes are less than three years old. All vehicles are Certified Self Contained. The rental company will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided.
The rental company reserves the right to charge a fee of NZ$ 299 if the interior of any returned vehicle is very dirty. Toilets and waste water tanks must be completely emptied, otherwise a further fee will be charged.
The petrol/diesel and LPG gas tanks must be returned full.
