For flex rate bookings the following applies: There is a corresponding flex rate for each rental day. A certain flex rate is valid for one week from Wednesday to Tuesday. Depending on which day of the week you start your hire, the corresponding flex rate is valid for all rental days until the next Tuesday. From Wednesday on, the corresponding flex rate of this week is valid for the following rental days until Tuesday, and so on. Rentals of more than 45 days are on request only (the hirer may be requested to accept charges for normal maintenance e.g. adding motor oil, oil changes or tyre replacement).
Pick-up and drop-off days are counted as one day in total, i.e. each rental night is used for the price calculation in the same way it is done by hotels. To find out which flex rate is currently valid for the vehicle you are interested in, just click for a price calculation for the desired rental duration. The flex rate is calculated by the rental company on the basis of supply and demand and is adjusted every Sunday.
Note: If you wish to make any changes to your booking, the booking will be re-calculated by using either the original flex rate or the flex rate that applies at the time of the booking change, depending on which rate is higher.

Public liability insurance
Public liability insurance is included in the daily rental rate. The rental company and their vehicles are insured for damages to third parties and/or their property.
The public liability insurance that covers the registered drivers is only up to the statutory limit as stipulated by law of the State you are in at the time. This upper amount insured is normally very low.
The maximum level of this insurance policy covers claims made by third parties against the rental company or the renter of the motorhome (in the case of third parties or their property). Passengers in the rental vehicle are not counted as third parties and the driver is therefore not insured for claims brought by them against him/herself.
Vehicle insurance
The Vehicle Incident Protection (VIP) insurance is included in the rental rate for all vehicles. This insurance reduces the renter's personal level of risk/excess (per incident) to US$ 1,500 if an accident happens or in the event of theft or vandalism, regardless of how or by whom any damage to the vehicle occurs - including if the renter is not at fault.
Exception: for damage that is not covered by the insurance see below under the heading 'Insurance Exclusions'. There are no additional insurance options available which waive or reduce this excess.
If damage occurs as a result of illegal or dangerous driving or if the renter drives outside the guidelines of the rental agreement no insurance will be provided. Please see below under 'Insurance Exclusions' for further details.
Additional Insurance Options
You have the option of purchasing an additional insurance, which is called the VIP Plus Upgrade, for US$ 17.95 per night
VIP Plus upgrade With a standard rental from the rental company, you are responsible for all loss or damage to the vehicle from any cause, regardless of the Fault, liable up to a maximum of US$1,500 per incident. T
The optional VIP Plus Upgrade is not mandatory. VIP Plus Upgrade reduces the customer's liability for damage to the rental vehicle in the event of an Accident to US$0 (unless otherwise noted in Notes 1-5 below and under Uninsured Losses). Customers can purchase VIP Plus Upgrade either in advance or at the local station. US$17.95 per night, payable locally.
VIP Plus Upgrade is not insurance and only reduces the renter's financial responsibility if the rented vehicle is damaged or stolen. The advantages of the VIP Plus upgrade are: - Elimination of the deductible in the event of damage to the rented vehicle provided the renter is not in breach of the rental agreement- You do not need to report any damage to your personal insurance.
Please note that the VIP Plus upgrade does not apply if:
1) the renter uses the vehicle contrary to the rental agreement;
2) the renter fails to remove the keys or close all doors and windows and the vehicle is stolen;
3) the renter fails to notify the rental company and the police immediately after loss; and
4) Renter fails to pay the fees specified in the Rental Agreement; or
5) permitted under applicable state or provincial law.
If the renter decides to drive to Mexico he/she does so at his/her own risk and this is still only permitted with the prior approval of Mighty and if the renter purchases the Mexico Auto Liability Insurance option (MALI) for US$ 22 per day. Any costs for repairs, vehicle break-down or losses that occur there will not be reimbursed. There is no insurance (neither third party nor vehicle-related) if the vehicle is driven to Baja California/Mexico without the prior approval of Mighty and if this compulsory additional insurance has not been purchased. We can provide further information regarding this regulation if you wish.

You are required to provide a deposit of US$ 1,000 when you pick up the vehicle. This is payable by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express) only. Debit cards, pre-paid credit cards, Cash or Traveler's Checks are not accepted. The amount is not deducted from your credit card at pick-up but it is on 'hold'. Upon return provided that the rental vehicle is returned clean inside, undamaged and on time this 'hold' is removed.
Neither the rental company nor Motorhome Bookers is liable for any cost differences that result from foreign exchange fluctuations or external fees between the time the cost is deducted and then reimbursed.
Please ensure you have enough credit available on your credit card.
The deposit applies for each incident where the rental vehicle or third party property is damaged. In such situations, a further bond will be required to cover the excess for any future incidents.
The excess (deposit) is always banked in the first instance where damage occurs, regardless of who is at fault and is owed to the rental company by the renter. The excess is not refunded by Mighty in situations involving a third party, but rather needs to be obtained from a third party by the renter him/herself. This can of course take quite some time. In such situations Mighty would provide the contact details of the third party if they have this but does not get involved in chasing the amount of the excess from the third party.
A deposit is deducted every time an accident occurs.
All insurance cover is null and void if the terms of the Mighty rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is caused when the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions is not covered by the insurance.
In the cases listed below the renter is fully liable for damage to the rental vehicle and third-party property, i.e. no insurance cover whatsoever is provided:
- damages to the interior of the vehicle
- personal injury, personal items and property
- carrying more passengers than having seat belts available
- deliberate or willful damages caused by the renter or his guests
- damages caused to the vehicle by abuse or misuse for illegal activities
- damages where the customer is charged by the local authorities for being careless
- damages caused by freezing, e.g. unit not winterized, or overheating of vehicle or systems
- driving the vehicle without a rental agreement, in breach or violation of the rental agreement
- damages and accidents caused under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other controlled substance
- damages and injuries caused by neglecting proper operating procedures, e.g. incorrect fuel type or quality, ignoring oil or coolant levels, air pressure, etc., by overloading the vehicle and/or exceeding the legal towing capacity (towing limit is with proper equipment 1,500 lbs. – enclosed trailers, boats or vehicles are not allowed)
- damages where the customer is showing gross negligence or willfulness in failing to abide by the local laws and rules or disregarding common sense resulting in damage to the vehicle or third-party vehicle or property
- operation of the vehicle by anyone not meeting the age requirements as shown on the rate sheet and rental terms & conditions, or not listed on the rental agreement or not having a valid, original driver license
- damages and losses due to “off-road” usage, or caused during travel in or thru restricted areas, following incorrect GPS guidance, traveling into non-authorized areas including but not limited to the country of Mexico, the inner cities of New York, Montreal and Quebec (Canada), Death Valley (Jun-Sep), Northern Canada, Alaska Highway, Alaska.
- damages as a result of using a levelling system (if reconnected by a customer)
- damages as a result of driving with anextended awning
The renter is liable for any fees, costs, fines or penalties that occur during his/her use of the rental vehicle unless any such costs that have been incurred are the fault of the rental company.
Where speeding tickets and parking fines and/or accidents come to light after the rental period, the rental company reserves the right to invoice the customer for these costs in arrears as well as a processing fee of US$ 25 - 250, depending on the administrative efforts involved.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage insurance, nor do they include cover for any damage to the driver or passengers. It is therefore recommended to obtain travel insurance that covers accidents, sickness and loss of luggage prior to departure.
A valid UK, Australian, New Zealand or European Licence is acceptable for use in the USA as long as all details are also provided in English. If the licence does not provide information in English, an international driving licence is also required together with the national licence.
Mighty does not allow international tour operators such as ourselves to place bookings for customers residing in the USA. Please select one of our other USA RV rental partners if this is the case.
The minimum age for any registered drivers is 21 years.
Additional drivers can be registered at the time of vehicle collection at no extra cost. Anyone wishing to drive the motorhome must have their details entered in the rental agreement.
Before you can collect your vehicle you are required to present a valid national driving licence, credit card, your passport as well as the Motorhome Bookers voucher at the depot.
Please note carefully the maximum number of passengers allowed per vehicle as per details provided when you click on the picture of your vehicle and view the vehicle specifications on our website.
The minimum hire period is 7 nights / 8 days. With unlimited mileage it is 10 nights / 11 days.
It is 12 nights / 13 days if you book the All Inclusive Option.

In the United States of America, the following regulations apply:
Children under the age of 1 year or weighing less than 20 pounds (approx. 9 kg) must be seated in a rear-facing baby capsule.
In the state of California children up to the age of 2 years must be seated in a rear-facing baby capsule in the living area.
Children from the age of 1 year (or from the age of 2 years in California) up to the age of 4 years or weighing less than 40 pounds (approx. 18 kg) are required to be seated and belted in a baby seat.
Children between the age of 4 and 8 years or weighing less than 60 pounds (approx. 27 kg) or who are less than 57 inches (approx. 145 cm) in height must use a child restraint (Booster Seat), which is attached with a seatbelt.
These regulations vary from state to state in the US. For details on the requirements of the states you will be traveling in.
Please inform yourself in advance.
Mighty does not hire baby or booster seats. If you require these for your children, you will need to bring them with you or buy them locally.
It is not allowed to drive on unsealed roads, forest 'logging' roads, non-public roads and other private terrain.
You are permitted to drive your motorhome throughout the USA with a few exceptions:
In July and August it is forbidden to drive in Death Valley. In June and September this is permitted but you do so at your own risk and there is no insurance cover. Therefore you are responsible for any towing or repair costs. Temperatures of up to 60 degrees Celsius are possible during this time.
You are not permitted to drive into Manhatten or New York City, but it is ok to drive in New York State. Certain highways, e.g. 'The Apache Trail' in Arizona, are also forbidden, as are underground or underwater tunnels.
If you drive to Northern Canada or Alaska you do so at your own risk and no reimbursements or insurance cover for towing, break-downs, repairs, etc. will be provided. Travel into Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City is permitted, but you are not allowed to leave the vehicle unattended in either city.
If you plan to visit Mexico you are required to purchase the additional insurance option locally (MALI) of US$ 22 per day and obtain prior written approval from the rental company. Any costs resulting from repairs, break-downs or other incurred losses during your time in Mexico will not be reimbursed.
Travel during the summer months and/or in regions with extreme temperatures can result in damage to the air-conditioning system, the fridge and generator. Mighty will do all they can to ensure that these systems work without a hitch and will inform the clients at pick-up time about how to use and take care of these. However, the rental company cannot guarantee that these will work propertly in extreme conditions and will not cover any repair or replacement costs incurred if clients drive in such extreme conditions or to/in regions exposed to such conditions.
One-way rentals (vehicle pick-up at location 'A' and drop-off at location 'B') are possible between all international depots in the USA with all vehicle categories if booked in advance and upon request. One-way fees are payable locally at the depot when you pick up the vehicle. See the section entitled 'Additional Costs' for more details.
Please note that the renter is liable for any damage to the vehicle resulting from frost, exposure to the cold, freezing of the tanks, damage to the warm water tanks and connections and no insurance cover is provided in such instances.
Every rental vehicle has to be 'winterised' between the months of November and April (this period can vary depending on current weather conditions).
If it is likely that you will experience temperature levels below zero, all connections such as water and chemical tanks should be emptied. If frost temperatures are expected the rental depot will have already winterised the vehicle by emptying the water to avoid freezing, etc prior to your departure. By winterised we mean that the water has to be emptied out of all water tanks. Following this it is not permitted to pour any more water into the fresh water tank and none of the water connections can be used any more. No water in the vehicle is available for use. The renter is then required to purchase his/her own bottled water (e.g. drinking water) and to cover these costs him/herself.
The basins, sink, showers and toilets can no longer be used. However, the toilet can be partially flushed as long as only the windscreen wiper anti-frost fluid is used. If there is a heavy frost the toilet should not even be flushed like this and you will need to use public toilets.
The renter bears all responsibility for ensuring the vehicle remains winterised and to return the vehicle in this state if the vehicle was collected in a warmer region such that the vehicle was not winterised or if this state is altered during the rental period. If the renter does not adhere to these guidelines - regardless of what weather conditions are present at drop-off time, a fee will be charged and the deposit will be withheld until the vehicle is again winterised by a specialist and returned to the rental company.
The renter will be held responsible for any costs resulting from the vehicle being damaged such as when the tanks, engine elements and pipes are damaged due to freezing, frost, etc. In such cases there is no insurance cover.
Please allow for the fact - when planning out your route, that camping grounds in certain areas may close during the winter. Some roads, especially in alpine areas may also be closed for driving or may be simply too dangerous to drive on.
The international rental depots are Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando and San Francisco.
The depots are generally open from Monday to Sunday from 0900 - 1600hrs from October to March.
They are generally open Monday to Saturday from 0800 - 1700hrs and Sundays from 0800 - 1600 hrs from April to September.
Some depots have more limited opening hours - especially in the off-season.
Exception: the depot in Dallas is closed Sundays all year round.
All depots are closed on the following public holidays:

2024: 01 Jan
You can pick up your motorhome from 1300 - 1600hrs (1300 - 1500hrs between October and March) at the booked depot.
You are required to spend your first night in the USA and after your international flight in a hotel before you pick up the motorhome. Customers who have booked the Priority AM Departure (PAD) can pick up their vehicle before 1000hrs. 'PAD' customers can check-in at the specially marked counter.
Please make absolutely sure to use the Mighty pre-registration link to fill out your details required at pick-up time and send these to Mighty online no less than 14 days prior to vehicle pick-up. The rental company can then prepare your rental agreement in advance of your arrival so that it is ready for you to sign as soon as you arrive to collect your vehicle.
http://myelmonterv.com/check-in
This is possible between 0800 and 1100hrs at the booked depot. From October to March you can only drop-off your vehicle between 0900 and 1100hrs.
Suggestion: if your return flight is at midday or earlier we recommend that you drop off your motorhome at the depot on the day before your flight and spend the night in a hotel.
If the vehicle is not returned at the agreed time, Mighty will charge additional fees of US$ 50 per hour and the airport transfer will be cancelled. Additional fees will be charged if it is not returned to the agreed depot. There are no refunds provided if the vehicle is returned earlier than the date and time booked.
You are required to return the motorhome with a full tank of fuel, a clean interior and the toilet and waste water tanks emptied, otherwise further fees will be charged.
Mighty does not offer any transfers.
Mighty offers vehicles with model years 2018 or newer. But please note that the model year is not the same as the year the vehicle was built as the first registration is between 2017 or newer.
Mighty will make every effort to ensure that the booked vehicle model is provided. However, it reserves the right, if due to unforeseen circumstances it has to provide either a vehicle of the same or a higher value without upgrade costs if the model booked is not available for any reason. Any additional costs such as higher petrol costs or ferry crossings costs, etc will not be reimbursed. This does not enable the renter to cancel his/her booking and there is no ground for reimbursement.
Even though all vehicles have similar equipment and designs small differences in vehicle design may exist. All measurements and size indications are approximate values and are based on the information provided to us by the rental company. We accept no responsibility for any mistakes or human error in the provision of these details. Such information on our website can be changed at any time without prior notice.
The rental company will charge a minimum cleaning fee between US$ 50 and US$ 150 per hour if the vehicle is not returned clean. Cleaning fees can be as high as US$ 750 or more for Burning Man rentals. Toilets and waste water tanks must be completely emptied, otherwise a further fee will be charged. Fuel tanks must be full or an additional fee will be charged.
In the event of an accident, breakdown, technical difficulties (including problems with tyres) you are required to inform the rental company immediately on the toll-free service line provided. A nationwide network of contracted mechanics are available in such unfortunate cases. In an accident or fire regardless of the impact the police need to be contacted and the rental company should be informed within no more than 24 hours. Third party demands are not to be agreed to and the police report must include the name and address of the people involved as well as any witnesses along with the vehicle registration details. Even in the case of minor damage the renter is required to provide a detailed written report and sketch to Mighty outlining the situation.
Note: If you do not inform Mighty immediately about the need for a repair and if the company is not given the opportunity to help you find you a solution no reimbursement or compensation will be provided.
Small repairs or necessary expenses for the upkeep of the vehicle up to the value US$ 75 can be carried out without prior communication with the rental company and will be reimbursed to you at drop-off time. This exceptional rule does NOT apply to de-winterizing or winterizing cost.
For repairs that will cost more than US$ 75 you are required to inform the rental company before repairs take place in order to obtain their approval to proceed (otherwise no repairs will be reimbursed). Repairs can only be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.
If the vehicle is out of action (due to a mechanical breakdown*, not an accident caused by others or the renter) for longer than 12 working hours, Mighty will reimburse the daily rental rate or expenses for hotel rooms up to US$ 25 per person per night and car rental up to US$ 50 per day per motorhome up to a maximum of US$ 1,500 per trip.
*Mechanical breakdown: Mighty does not provide compensation for damage or problems to the following items: radio/, CD player, TV, DVD, Bluetooth, USB, air conditioner, batteries, fridge, heater, water heater, awning, slide-out, generator, cruise control and GPS.
Pets are allowed in the vehicles as long as this is specifically requested at the time of booking. The renter is responsible for any damage caused by or in connection with an animal and an additional fee to have the vehicle specially cleaned may be charged.
Smoking is not permitted in the vehicles. If this rule is not adhered to, Mighty will charge considerable fees at drop-off time.
-The customer is responsible for any traffic violations, fines, tolls and/or subpoenas incurred during the rental period.
- Traffic violations: The customer can either pay for the traffic violations himself or hand the traffic violations over to the rental station for processing and payment when the vehicle is returned. In addition to the traffic violation amount, the customer will be charged a US$100 processing fee per violation.
- In the event of non-payment or non-delivery of the traffic violations to the lessor, the customers are responsible for the amount of the fine plus late payment surcharges. In addition, the customer may be charged up to US$ 250 per violation for increased administration costs.
- Toll Roads / Golden Gate Bridge Tolls: Owner will charge Customer the amount of the Toll PLUS an additional processing fee of up to US$25 using the credit card on file with Owner. This service does NOT apply to traffic violations or parking violations. The lessor's insurance policies do not include luggage insurance or insurance against personal injury in your own vehicle. It is therefore recommended to take out travel accident, travel health and luggage insurance.
All information provided has been put together by us (Motorhome Bookers GmbH & Co. OHG) in as much detail as possible and on the basis of the information made available to us. This information has been taken from the rental company's conditions which they have provided to us. Any additional conditions are included in the rental agreement which is entered into by yourself and the rental company.
