Ferry Bookings in New Zealand

Interislander Ferry

The North and South Islands of New Zealand are linked via ferry and plane only. The 'Interislander' ferry departs up to five times a day in both directions between Wellington on the North Island and Picton on the South Island. The journey takes three hours and is a fantastic experience in itself.

For one-way rentals you are required to take the motorhome on the ferry with you. If you are planning to take the ferry between the North and South Island (in either direction) in the months between October and March you should make a reservation. You can change your reservation locally if there is space available on the day in question. This change can be made at least one day in advance of your originally booked crossing date but we recommend you allow more time in advance if you wish to do this.

We can make the reservation for you at no extra charge if you specifically request this in your booking with us. You then pay the rental company for this at the depot when you collect your motorhome as your ferry ticket will be waiting for you there. You can also find detailed information about the Interislander including how to book it directly on the internet at www.interislanderbookings.co.nz.
