Please note that all visitors to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana are required to be able to present a valid flight ticket, to show proof of sufficient funds and to be in possession of a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the intended date of departure from the country in question. The authorities also require that at least 2 pages in your passport are empty before you arrive in their country. We recommend - with respect to all countries we work with - that children travel with their own passports. This saves complications, especially if you plan on visiting more than one destination (every destination has its own rules) as part of your holiday. Visitors travelling via car or motorhome who wish to travel from South Africa to a neighbouring country, are strongly advised to keep up to date with the opening hours that the border offices have and the requirements for cross-border travel. You can obtain this information by contacting the Department of Home Affairs when in South Africa by calling 0800 601 190. Permits or visas may apply for travel to some of the neighbouring countries. In some cases one of our rental company partners may be able to provide a permit. Alternatively, this may be possible at the border itself. In any case, it is important to note the rules that each rental company has with respect to cross-border travel. With the exception of an injection against Yellow Fever, which is necessary when entering within six days of being in an endangered region, this is not required. It is recommended that you are immunised against Malaria as a precaution before travelling to certain regions.
